1. What we set

Analytics, and nothing else. The published site loads Google Analytics 4, which sets two cookies in your browser:

• _ga, which gives your browser a random identifier so repeat visits are counted as one person rather than several. It lasts two years.
• _ga_5CV9ZDWQTB, which holds the state of your current visit for the same property. It lasts two years.

2. What we do not set

No advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, no social network buttons that watch you, and no cookies that follow you to other websites. We run no advertising at all, so there is nothing to retarget you with.

The site also loads nothing from a third party as you read it. Type is self-hosted with the pages, images come from our own server, and there are no embedded players or maps.

3. What the analytics is for

We look at which pages are read, which ones people leave, and roughly where readers are. It tells us what to write next. It does not tell us who you are, and nothing you type into the contact form is sent to it.

The dev environment sends nothing at all. The tag is compiled into production builds only.

4. How to refuse them

Every browser can block or delete cookies, per site or for everything, in its privacy settings. The site works without them, and nothing on it is behind a cookie.

Google also publishes a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from measuring you anywhere, which is the thorough way to opt out of this one.

5. Changes to this notice

If we add anything that stores data in your browser, it is listed here before it ships, and the date at the top changes.
